Technical Consultant

The Technical Consultant involves a range of duties relative to management of projects, budget, technology, and project deliverables; and works closely with client staff to deliver results that exceed client expectations.  Acts as a liaison between clients and PayTech in order to further productive business relationships.  Is responsible for all stages of project development from proposal and requirements definition to project planning, development, testing, and implementation.  Documents all project related activities and archives all content for future client support, knowledge base growth, and team education.  Responsible for providing project and personnel performance information to management.  Works independently or with management to resolve client relations issues.  Supports the operations of the corporate office and assists in maintaining a high level of customer service for all clients.

  • Manage and perform client projects, as an individual or as part of a team, ranging in complexity from basic to very high, including:  data migrations, report writing, database changes, screen and business logic changes, application development, and others in which require a technical skill set.

  • Prepare and maintain project plans based on the phases, activities and tasks necessary for executing a project.

  • Identify and document project risks, priorities, assumptions, scope and approach.

  • Conduct project reviews, providing contingency and problem resolution plans as required, ensuring methodology selected is being followed and quality deliverables are produced.

  • Provide quality written documents to PayTech’s review team for quality assurance and conversion to copyrighted documents before distribution to client.

  • Provide consolidated project updates/summaries on a periodic basis to Manager and client

  • Centrally manage all source code, user documentation, and other project related content, and ensure all data collection systems are maintained in a timely fashion to facilitate quality metrics and analysis.

  • Work with all levels of management to plan business and technology initiatives.

  • Coordination of client deliverables, testing requirements, and follow-up.

  • Maintain successful PayTech & Client relationship.

  • Travel as needed to meet client project requirements.

The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor of Science or equivalent. At least 10 years experience in the Payroll / HR field and/or in support of a Payroll / HR application. Demonstrated understanding of key components of project management methodology.  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel projects, meet client deadlines and obtain measurable results.  Proven analytical and problem solving skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and superior oral and written communication skills.  Must be self-motivated, client-focused, and organized.  Must have excellent collaboration skills and the proven ability to be productive in a virtual work environment.   Able to travel at any time.  Able and available to work more than 40 hours per week.

General knowledge of the following with extensive knowledge in one or more areas:

  • Working with data - manipulation, migration, conversion, analytics, etc.
  • Database technology such as design, models, SQL, stored procedures, triggers, etc.
  • Application design, develop, and testing methodologies
  • Client server and web development technologies including working knowledge of development tools (i.e. Visual Basic, .Net, XML, HTML, etc.)
  • Report writing and presentation, and the use of tools such as Crystal Reports, Report Smith, etc.
